MTI INDUSTRIES

Serving Industries Since 1970

MTI Industries helps area factories and businesses meet their production quotas and deadlines.

MTI Industries seeks out and bids for contracted jobs, and then work is either brought in to MTI Industries’ own factory/production facility, or workers are taken to the contracted facility to perform the job on-site.

For Consumers

• Career Connections and MTI Industries are employment programs of Van Buren Community Mental Health Authority.

• Eligible individuals must be adult clients of Van Buren Community Mental Health Authority.

• Services are individualized, and based on the wishes and goals of the consumer, using a Person-Centered process that helps optimize their ability to make informed choices.

• Services are delivered as a Team, which includes the consumers Supports Coordinators, as well as others involved in the life of the consumer, such as: family members, therapists, home providers, Career Connections & MTI staff, Voc-Rehab Counselor(s) from Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS), etc.

• Various levels of support are provided to consumers as they pursue their desired employment goals within these two employment programs.

• Other employment services may be available through the Michigan Department of Career Development – Michigan Rehabilitation Services.

Employment Consultants

Career Connections (CC) has been part of the Van Buren Community Mental Health Authority since 1989. Since that time, the program has provided supported employment services to over 250 people.

CC provides services as part of your Community Mental Health Person-Centered Planning Team. Our mission is to help you in your goals of finding and keeping a job that matches your interests and skills.

CC provides individualized employment or employment-related supports to persons with developmental disabilities, mental illness & other disabilities. These supports include:

• Job Development services.

• Job Coaching services, at the job site,

• Consulting & implementation services for consumers wishing to be self-employed through their own micro-enterprise business.

• Employer & co-worker education & advocacy services regarding the employment of persons with disabilities

MTI INDUSTRIES

MTI Industries is also part of the Van Buren Community Mental Health Authority, serving local businesses and factories since 1970.

MTI Industries (MTI) provides adults with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness with a paid work experience on-site or other related work setting. Work is contracted with local companies, and the work is either brought into MTI for completion, or workers are taken to the contracted facility to perform the job. Persons employed through MTI receive bi-weekly paychecks, based on a piece-rate pay scale.

Several trained Instructors are available to work directly with the consumer in a group format. These Instructors help consumers strive toward improving their work skills, their rate of production, etc..

There are also several professional staff available to assist in overcoming medical, physical, and psychological barriers (Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapist Assistant, Speech Therapist, Registered Nurse, and Psychologist).
