Center for Crisis Stabilization

C.C.S. has trained professional staff who can address your physical and emotional needs.

The Center for Crisis Stabilization (C.C.S.) is a six bed residential home, which is operated by Van Buren Community Mental Health Authority. The purpose of the program is to provide a community based treatment setting for adults who are experiencing emotional or psychiatric crises to help prevent the need for inpatient psychiatric treatment. C.C.S. is also used to help persons leave inpatient treatment settings sooner to complete their stabilization process in a more home-like community setting.

The Center for Crisis Stabilization serves adults aged 18 and older who are referred to the program by Van Buren Community Mental Health Authority clinical staff. No one is admitted directly into the program without being referred by authorized agency staff.

C.C.S. is a 1 to 3 Week Program

C.C.S. is designed as a short-term stabilization program, with the typical length of stay being one to three weeks. Programming is geared toward helping the individual return to their pre-crisis level of functioning and return to a less structured and restrictive setting.

C.C.S. encourages residents to be as independent as possible and to participate actively in their treatment as prescribed. Persons entering the program must enter voluntarily with the intent of participating actively in scheduled activities and treatment.

Individualized Programming to Your Unique Needs

The Center for Crisis Stabilization provides around the clock staffing with Department of Community Health Certified Direct Care workers. Two staff are on duty at all times.

The program employs two psychologists and a registered nurse to ensure that residents’ psychological, social, and physical health care needs are addressed.

Psychiatric services are provided as needed by the Van Buren Community Mental Health Authority Medical Director or by the resident’s own private psychiatrist. 24-Hour emergency access to medical and psychiatric care is also provided.

The Residential Alternative

The Center for Crisis Stabilization is an alternative to inpatient psychiatric treatment that recognizes the importance of community based care. C.C.S. provides a setting that is more home-like, which can help speed the recovery process.

Services at the Center for Crisis Stabilization are strictly confidential. C.C.S. staff take this policy seriously, as it is the law and your right!

Family and friends are allowed to visit at designated times and only if you desire them to do so.

Family participation in the treatment process is welcomed and encouraged when appropriate and necessary.
